Garage Doors in Cumberland Beach, OntarioOriginal door.Still worth keeping.

Plenty of houses in Cumberland Beach still open the wood or early steel door they were built with, often on extension springs. Those doors deserve a technician who knows them: how to true a sagging section, add safety cables, replace worn pulleys, and bring the hardware up to date without losing the look of the house. We also come out to Longford, Geneva Park, Mariposa Beach, Amigo Beach, Ardtrea, Happyland, Menoke Beach and New Uhthoff.

Garage door services

Where to start

The garage door services we bring to Cumberland Beach fall into four groups: repair and maintenance for doors that are sticking or noisy; springs and lifting hardware; openers, remotes and access; and new door installation or upgrade for homes and businesses that are ready for a change.

New Doors

Installation & Upgrades

Some doors have given everything they had. When that is the case, a new one installed carefully, balanced properly and paired with a matching opener is the right investment, and this is how we do it.

  1. A person examines a blue-grey sectional garage door with a packaged door panel resting beside the driveway. — Sectional Garage Door Replacement, Cumberland Beach
Sectional Garage Door ReplacementYour renovation changes how the ceiling space will be used. The existing track conflicts with new storage and lighting, so the replacement needs a measured track arrangement that follows the available headroom and…
  2. Interior of a closed sectional door with horizontal metal reinforcement struts. — Wind-Rated Garage Door Replacement, Cumberland Beach
Wind-Rated Garage Door ReplacementYour renovation drawings call for a garage door with a stated design pressure, yet the existing door has no readable label or installation record. The replacement now needs to match the opening and the project documents.
  3. Cream carriage-house-style garage door with dark decorative hardware. — Carriage-House Garage Door Installation, Cumberland Beach
Carriage-House Garage Door InstallationThe existing door has reached the point where panels, rollers and finish all look tired. Rather than reproduce the same appearance, you want the replacement to become a considered architectural feature.
  4. Closed glazed sectional door in a grey metal frame at a brick workshop. — Full-View Glass Garage Door Installation, Cumberland Beach
Full-View Glass Garage Door InstallationThe current door is due for replacement, and this is the opportunity to change the whole character of the opening. Glass, frame finish and hardware need to be planned as one working system.
  5. A person wearing a hard hat stands beside a dark sectional door in an unfinished timber-framed garage. — New-Construction Garage Door Installation, Cumberland Beach
New-Construction Garage Door InstallationFraming, siding, flooring and electrical crews are working from the same schedule. The garage door is ready for its place in that sequence once the opening, anchor points, floor height and power are confirmed.
  6. Person kneeling beside the bottom of a metal rolling door with tools on the ground — Commercial Rolling Door Repair, Cumberland Beach
Commercial Rolling Door RepairThe wall control asks the door to close, but the operator hums and stops. The curtain remains overhead while the control light and the photoelectric sensors suggest that the powered system needs a connected diagnosis.
  7. Tall garage interior with a sectional door and tracks extending into overhead space. — High-Lift Garage Door Conversion, Cumberland Beach
High-Lift Garage Door ConversionYour new vehicle lift fits the floor plan, but the open garage door crosses the space above it. The ceiling is high enough; the standard track simply turns too soon and leaves the panels hanging over the raised vehicle.

2021 census · what it means at the door

  • 46%Homes of every age

About 46% of homes in Severn were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.

Where housing ages are mixed, many older houses have already had a newer door and opener fitted, so the door's age and the house's age are not the same thing. The technician reads the door itself, its spring type, tracks and opener, before recommending anything.

  • 90%Mostly houses

Single-detached houses make up about 90% of homes in Severn (2021 Census).

Households in detached homes often have several remotes, a keypad and a phone app between family members and their cars. We keep all of them programmed to the opener, replace the ones that have failed, and explain how to add a new one when a car changes hands.

The questions that come up

(249) 209-8717

How should I look after the door after the section is replaced?

A little routine goes a long way. Each month, look along the hinges for loose screws, spin the rollers, and check the door's balance by lifting it by hand with the opener disconnected. Twice a year, apply a light garage-door lubricant to hinge pivots, roller stems and springs, and keep the tracks clean and dry. Rinse salt off the lower sections in spring, touch up chips, and keep the bottom seal clear of ice in winter.

What are perimeter seals made of?

Most residential seals are flexible vinyl or a rubber compound formed into a fin that bends against the door. They come either as a flexible strip that is nailed to a wood stop or moulded onto a rigid vinyl stop as one piece. Commercial doors sometimes use an aluminum retainer holding a replaceable rubber insert, or a brush seal. Manufacturers make them to flex thousands of times as the door operates.

Should I keep using the opener while the track is bent?

It is better to leave the door where it is and use another way in and out. An opener pushing a door through a damaged section pulls rollers out of the channel, twists the top section and can turn a small dent into a jammed door off its track. Industry guidance after any impact is to stop operating the door and have it assessed. Leaving it still keeps the repair small.

Can a spring be adjusted rather than replaced?

A spring that is intact but has relaxed slightly can be given a little more tension, within limits, to restore balance; this is a normal adjustment on a door that has settled. A spring with a broken coil is replaced as a unit, since the wire has reached the end of its life. The technician checks the condition of the steel and recommends whichever restores a balanced, safe door.

Can I keep using the opener until the spring is replaced?

It is better to leave the door where it is. With one spring gone, the opener is lifting most of the door's weight on its own, which strains the motor, can bend the top section and often throws a cable off its pulley, adding to the work. Use another door in and out, keep the bay clear, and let the technician move the door once it is secured.
